Thunder

So last night there was a huge thunder storm over my town, followed by the most massive rainfall this year. As I was walking up the stairs to the apartment with my little sister, we saw a lightning cross the entire sky, and only a few heartbeats afterwards the thunder boomed through the walls as if a bomb was fired just outside.
Today it was warm and nice and so now as I was in my bed, I noticed some lights from outside and thought it was lightning, but as I waited for the thunder I started doubting myself, maybe it was just a car, no there it was again.
I got up and looked out the window, nothing. Then suddenly the sky was illuminated for an instant. But no lightning visible.
I went to the window in the other side of the apartment, and then I saw it, a huge cloud, far away from my almost sky free heaven full of stars, was a thick clous which, again and again lit up. I waited again for the thunder. Nothing.

Now I see what people mean when they say that we don't understand the news broadcasted through television, radio or newspapers, unless they affect us. I haven't spared the poor souls in Pakistan one thought today. But for the entire evening I've been worrying about my first day in highschool tomorrow.

No matter how bright the lightnings, you can't ever see the thunder.
